iPhone and Mac users are keeping their devices much longer than in the past. This is the finding of a study carried out by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) which is very instructive on this subject. Let's take stock.
Spectacular figures
In detail, experts found that 71% of iPhone owners and 68% of Mac owners said their previous device was more than two years old. For comparison, it was 63% and 59% in 2020. Another impressive figure: 56% of Mac users keep their laptop for more than three years, compared to 40% in 2020.
How to explain these results?
Overall, Apple customers now favor high-end smartphones, even if it means paying more at the moment to keep them longer. The Cupertino company has adapted to this new situation. It thus provides security updateslonger than in the past. We are thinking in particular of iOS 15, which last March offered a security update compatible with iPhone 6s, smartphones which are already nine years old.
