If the 13″ Macbook Pro was entitled to the new Apple silicon chip last year, the 16″ model is still powered by the old Intel platform. But according to the DigiTimes newspaper, it could well be that this machine is experiencing its last moments in its current form. Indeed, Apple has reportedly launched mass production of a 16″ Apple silicon MacBook Pro. We imagine a release for the second half of fall, the Californian giant particularly appreciating this period to launch new computers.
But that's not all, the MacBook Pro 16″ Apple silicon would comeaccompanied by a new 14″ Apple silicon model, as the source announces. The latter would also have entered the production phase. It is intended to replace the 13″ model currently in the range.
For a while now, rumors have been pointing to the arrival of a 14″ model in the MacBook Pro range. And it could well be that the year 2021 will see this hypothesis come true.
Concerning the Apple silicon chip which would equip these two new machines, it is obviously an evolution of the M1 seen on MacBook Pro 13″, Mac mini, iMac and iPad Pro. If its name is not yet known for the moment, with analysts hesitating between M2 and M1X, we can hope for anotable performance gain compared to the 2020 generation of the SoC, with probably the possibility of increasing to 32 GB, or even 64 GB of RAM.
For the moment, Apple silicon computers arelimited to 16 GB of RAM. And even if numerous tests have already shown that the performance with an Apple silicon chip and 16 GB of RAM is comparable to that of a Mac machine with an Intel processor and 32 GB of RAM, many professionals still require a quantity of memory RAM equal to or greater than 32 GB. We are thinking in particular of video editors, 3D graphic designers, sound engineers and even cinema technicians.
