Apple has been trying to put an end to leaks for a few years now. It often happens that the Cupertino company's new products are known well before their presentation, which disrupts the company's plans.
Two well-known Chinese leakers, Kang and Duan Rui, claimed to have received letters from the Apple brand demanding that they stop giving details about its future products. These letters would threaten them with legal action if they do not stop.
Sources that have proven reliable in the past
To justify itself, Apple would claim that these leaks on products not yet marketed risk misleading customers, while giving an advantage to its competitors. The company would also ask them to stop claiming that these are “dreams or fantasized versions” when they are purely and simply leaks.
This threat seems to have hit home since Kang himself affirms that he will no longer post this type of content in the future. He also wants to warn other leakers that from now on Apple will verify these publications and that anything relating to products not yet marketed could be considered an illegal practice.
As our colleagues atappleinsider, Chinese influencers such as Kang, Duan Rui, or L0vetodream have proven to be reliable sources in the past and we can therefore expect to receive less information from the Middle Kingdom in the coming months.
As a reminder, we also spoke to you about the case of this former Apple employee, Simon Lancaster, who allegedly benefited from his position in the company to steal “sensitive confidential information» from the apple brand. He then allegedly passed them on to a journalist who published them in articles presented in the form of rumors.
The Tech giant will never succeed in completely stopping the leaks, but it seems determined to reduce them as much as possible.
