36.1% market share: here is the score obtained by the Apple Watch brand on the smart watch market in the first quarter of 2022. A figure to compare with the 35.9% last year at the same period, when it was still the Series 6 which served as the standard bearer for Cupertino.
This model has since left the shelves of Apple Stores, and is no longer available only from third-party resellers. Instead, the manufacturer now offersthe Series 7, improved versionincluding faster charging than previously but also an enlarged screen and narrower edges for greater visual comfort.
Samsung on strong growth
In second place in these estimates from Counterpoint Research, we find, without much surprise, the Samsung company. The Korean thus achieves 10.1% market share according to the study, compared to “only” 7.8% between January and March 2021. This significant growth is due in particular to the success of its flagship accessory; thereGalaxy Watch.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch is available from319 euros, with a 30.4mm circular dial and up to forty hours of battery life on paper. The device, available in several colors, is also equipped with 16 GB of internal storage for 1.5 GB of RAM and runs Wear OS, the open operating system from Google (Alphabet).

Garmin and Fitbit are losing ground
On the last step of the podium, it isHuaweiwhich would complete it with 7.2% market share compared to 8.1% in the first quarter of 2021. Then come Xiaomi (5%), Garmin (4.3%), Amazfit (4%), Imoo (3.4% ) and Fitbit (2.7%). As for the rest of the table, it is completed by lesser-known companies or whose international presence is relatively negligible.
Among the big losers in this ranking, Fitbit is surely the worst off since its bracelets quickly lost value in just a few months. Difficult to explain this decline, but thebuyout by Googleand the democratization launched by Apple since 2015 may have something to do with it.
And you, what model is your connected watch? Are you planning to purchase one in the coming weeks? During theWWDC 2022, we should have a taste of what Apple has in store for us in this area withthe arrival of a new version of watchOS.
