The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is getting closer, technical details to support it

  • an Apple Watch Ultra with micro-LED screen is reportedly in the works
  • its release date would coincide with 2025
  • micro-LED technology offers deeper colors and better contrasts

With its large forty-nine millimeter dial,l’Apple Watch Ultrais the one that offers the best visual comfort to users, among all the other watches of the same brand. But its manufacturer is still considering improving its screen, according to information shared by analyst Ross Young. A profile that has been right before, predicting certain details of popular products before they even see the light of day. This is a small feat that few specialize in, as Apple tries to keep these projects secret.

According to Young, Apple could soon offer afrom micro-LEDsfor its Watch Ultra. This is not the first time we have heard about it, in fact the solution would also be likely to land one day on the iPad (touchscreen tablets) and MacBook Pro (laptop computers) ranges.

Potential release schedule

For Young, the new Apple Watch Ultra with micro-LED panel could see the light of day in2025. This seems to confirm other rumors which ensure that the manufacturer does not yet intend to renew this range every year, unlike the Apple Watch Series that we know.

While everyone else reported that the MicroLED Apple Watch would launch in 2024, we remained steadfast that it would be 2025, now essentially confirmed by its MicroLED supplier Osram:pic.twitter.com/gI9T6xcKfU

However, these indices must be considered with a certain caution, as is often the case. We know that it is not uncommon to see Apple broadcast false information in an attempt to guess where the leaks come from. Young, however, most often gets his sources from Asian production lines, which are forced to know Apple's deadlines to provide him with parts on time. The subcontractor in charge of the micro-LED screen of the second generation Apple Watch Ultra is already known: it is Osram. Its name had already been mentioned for the iPad Pro mini-LEDa little earlier.

The advantages of micro-LED

Having a micro-LED screen especially offers benefits for thevisual comfort, with more saturated colors and contrast offering more levels. But of course, these features don't have much to do with a tiny screen like that of the Apple Watch.

On the other hand, micro-LED also means that users will benefit from abetter brightness, lower power consumption and reduced latency. For the Apple Watch Ultra, which is used outdoors, whose endurance is aimed at daytime use and which targets athletes, these are clear advantages.
