Soon Apple security cameras, like at Nest or Ring?

A new patent published by Apple shows how the company thinks to design a connected camera. The model proposed in this document is reminiscent of the proposal for the value of many key brands in the sector, such as Nest or Netatmo. However, we do not know whether the manufacturer intends to market such a solution in the future, at least for the moment. It is therefore not uncommon for attempts of this type to never materialize, because meeting concerns of production.

If Apple proposed a connected security camera, it would be all designated to operate a peer with the Homekit ecosystem. The latter already allows, via the house app, to save the flow of a sensor located outside or inside the home, on iCloud. However, the option requires a paying subscription, as online storage is limited to it for free at only 5 GB of data.

Artificial intelligence on the menu?

In the patent filed Apple with the USPTO*, we note that the potential camera that the company imagines could detect people when they pass nearby. Likewise, it would be possible to recognize vehicles. However, we know that software that offers these advantages are often doped for artificial intelligence - for better reliability.

At the same time, Tim Cook recentlyconfirmedthat his business continues to make serious efforts in this area. It would therefore not be very surprising to see the apple to the apple effectively offer us intelligent goals in the years to come. These would join its long list of connected objects already available, among which we find watches, wireless headphones or speakers and the Beddit sleeping carpet.

It is not the competition that is missing

Several cameras are today among the market references. At Netatmo, some models are notably available below a hundred euros. The French company is one of the few to be based in France.

At Ring, a subsidiary of Amazon, there are also sensors coupled with alarms and digicodes to secure the home. Finally, on the side of devices compatible with Homekit, the manufacturersEufyAnd Aqara are among the most popular.
