In a patent filed in 2016 and just validated by the American agency responsible for registering this type of document, Apple engineers indeed reveal aiPadwith the front camera located in the middle of the longest side of the device. With a keyboard, it would face the user's face in the same way as a computer.

Unfortunately, anotchis still present on this design, even though the first under-screen or retractable camera technologies have been unveiled. On a panel of this size, however, the system appears less annoying than on a smartphone.
In any case, Apple can always choose to integrate itssensor in the borders, as long as these are not reduced to nothing as is the case on the latest mobile ofHuawei, the P40 Pro.
