Patent: a thermometer in the Apple Watch!

Registered in 2019 but only just spotted, a patent filed by Apple with the USPTO (American organization responsible for validating them) explains how to integrate a thermometer into a wearable. The Watch brand is not mentioned there, obviously, but it is a safe bet that this type of improvement could actually be in the cards for the Series 7. The latter should be revealed during a keynote at the end of the year.

If they were to see the light of day, it would not be the first time that such systems have been integrated into our mobile devices. Thus, we can go back as far as the Samsung Galaxy S4 to find traces of similar products. At the time, however, the applications of this solution were quite limited, so that only a few independent developers ended up taking advantage of it.

To go further

Not for the Watch SE?

Note also that if a Watch were to be entitled to this change, it will perhaps be the high-end model only. Indeed, since the last version, Apple has also marketed a version at a reduced price but with fewer components. The blood oximeter is the most telling example at the moment, but may therefore no longer be the only one before long.
