During the iOS 10 beta, Apple added
an alert to the systemto notify users if they
usedan old, unoptimized 32-bit appfor their
device with a 64-bit processor, however for some unknown reason this
alert had been removed from the public version of iOS 10, but it has just been
to come back.
Indeed, the alert for 32-bit apps is back in beta
d’iOS 10.1for a few days, and are displayed to users
when opening an app compiled in 32-bit and therefore not optimized
for iPhones with a 64-bit processor, i.e.from iPhone
5s.
The alert warns users that the app in question may slow down
the iPhone while in use, and the developer needs to update it
to improve its compatibility, namely compile it in 64-bit.
Starting with the iPhone 5s in 2013, which was the first iPhone to feature a
processor with a 64-bit architecture, Apple had started to ask
developers to submit 64-bit apps, in early 2015 64-bit support is
become mandatory for new apps, and in mid-2015 it is also mandatory
become for existing apps.
This new initiative from Apple is surely part of theirlarge operation of
cleaningwhich was launched at the beginning of September, and which aims toDELETE
from the App Store all obsolete appswho have not been
Updated for ages or no longer works.
