Unusual: An iPhone burning explained… by a screw forgotten inside during a repair

In November 2011, an incident made the rounds on the web. Indeed, during a
flight on the lines of the Australian company Reginal Express, a
iPhone owner had seen the battery of his precious entry into
combustion, enough to cause great fear to its user and to
other passengers.

At the time, the airline even issued a press release
press to report this news item.

Subsequently, the iPhone was x-rayed by Australian Transport
Safety Bureau and the result was…. surprising:

Indeed, the X-ray examination of the iPhone showed that the
battery had been punctured by a screwlocated in the
housing.

In fact, the iPhone had just passed into the hands of a
repairerfor a change of facade and a screw had been
poorly fixed.

It finally came into contact with the battery, which
caused a red glow on the back of the iPhone followed by smoke
particularly dense.

Fortunately, more fear than harm for its owner and passengers
of the plane.

So here is one of the few iPhone combustions seen in the past explained
(and ultimately it's rather reassuring). So it's better to go through the
Apple after-sales service in order to avoid this type of inconvenience as much as possible, fortunately enough
rares.
