While last night the Apple back-to-school conference was heldsummarized in this long article here, this was the opportunity to announce three new iPhones:les iPhone XS, XS Max et XRas well as a range ofApple Watch Series 4rethought in terms of design. But it was also the opportunity to officially announce theiOS 12 release date.
So it's next Monday,September 17that the general public will be able to benefit from thenoveltiesand performance improvements to iOS 12, but also watchOS 5 and tvOS 12.
In the meantime, Apple has just delivered to developers and those registered in the public beta test program theversion dite “Gold Master” ou “GM”.
It is in fact aboutthe final copy of the system, the one which should normally arrive on Monday on all machines, unless there is a big last minute problem which is unlikely.

Performances
* iOS has been improved to provide more speed and responsiveness across the entire system.
* All supported devices get better performance, even older ones like iPhone 5s and iPad Air.
* Camera launch is up to 70 percent faster; keyboard display is up to 50 percent faster and typing is more responsive.(1)
* Apps launch up to twice as fast when your device is in heavy use.*
Photos
* The new “For You” tab helps you discover the great photos in your library with Recommended Photos, Suggested Effects and more.
* Sharing suggestions proactively recommend that you share photos taken at events with the people in them.
* The search functionality has been improved to make it easier to find your photos with smart suggestions and the ability to combine multiple keywords.
* Search for photos based on the location, business or event where you took them.
* Importing from a camera is now faster, and a large preview lets you examine items in detail before importing.
* RAW format support for photo editing.
Camera
* Portrait mode has been improved to preserve subtle details between the subject and background when using the Scene Lighting and Mono Scene Lighting effects.
* QR codes are highlighted in the camera frame, making them easier to scan.
Messages
* Memoji, a new form of customizable Animoji, make your conversations in Messages more expressive with varied and fun characters designed in your image.
* New Animoji: T-Rex, ghost, koala and tiger.
* Memoji and Animoji can now wink and stick out their tongues.
* New Camera Effects let you add Animoji, filters, text effects, iMessage sticker packs, and shapes to photos and videos taken in Messages.
* Animoji recordings can now be up to 30 seconds long.
Screen time
* Screen Time provides detailed information and tools to help you and your family better organize the time you spend using apps and visiting websites.
* Find out the usage time of apps and different categories of apps, the number of notifications received and the frequency of device activation.
* App limits help you set how much time you or your child can spend in apps and websites.
* Screen Time lets parents manage how their children use iPhone and iPad directly from their own iOS devices.
Do not disturb
* Turn off Do Not Disturb after a preset time, when you leave a location, or at the end of an event on your calendar.
* Do Not Disturb at Night hides all notifications on the lock screen while you sleep.
Notifications
* Notifications from the same app are automatically grouped to make notification management easier.
* Instant Setting lets you control notification settings directly from the lock screen.
* The new Deliver Silently option silently sends notifications to Notification Center without interrupting you.
Siri
* Siri Shortcuts help you be even more efficient with the ability to use Siri with any app.
* Add shortcuts using the “Add to Siri” button in supported apps, or in Settings > Siri & Search.
* Siri suggests shortcuts on the lock screen and in search results.
* Get results, schedules, statistics and rankings for motor sports (Formula 1, Nascar, Indy 500 and MotoGP).
* Search for photos based on a time period, location, people, theme, or recent travel to find matching photos and memories in Photos.
* Have expressions translated into more languages, taking advantage of more than 40 language pairs.
* Check celebrity facts, like their dates of birth, and ask food-related questions, like the number of calories and nutrient content of a food.
* Turn the flashlight on or off.
* More natural and expressive voice now available for Irish English, South African English, Danish, Norwegian, Cantonese and Mandarin (Taiwan).
Augmented reality
* With ARKit 2, developers can create innovative AR apps with experiences you can share with friends.
* Persistence allows developers to save and reload experiences where you left them.
* Object detection and frame tracking provide developers with new tools for real-world object recognition and frame tracking during movement.
* AR Glance extends augmented reality across iOS by letting you view AR objects with built-in apps like News, Safari, and Files and share them with friends via iMessage and Mail.
Measures
* New augmented reality app allowing you to measure objects and spaces.
* Draw lines on surfaces or in space to take measurements, and tap a line's label to view more information.
* Automatically measure rectangular objects.
* Save, share and annotate screenshots of your measurements.
Privacy and security
* Safari's improved Smart Tracking Prevention prevents embedded content and social media buttons from tracking your activities across domains without your permission.
* Limiting advertisers' ability to uniquely identify iOS devices prevents ad redirection.
* Strong, unique passwords are automatically suggested when creating an account or changing a password in Safari and most apps.
* Reused passwords are reported in Settings > Passwords & Accounts.
* Security code autofill feature presents one-time security codes sent via SMS as suggestions in the QuickType bar.
* Sharing passwords with contacts has never been easier with the AirDrop option available under Passwords & Accounts in Settings.
* Siri can quickly access a password on an authenticated device.

* Brand new interface allowing you to discover, read and listen to books and audiobooks in a simple and fun way.
