How to install iOS 17 (beta version) now on your iPhone?

We explain how to install the iOS 17 developer beta for free, now available to the public

We saw it: iOS 17 wasdeployedin beta version free for everyone, whereas previously you had to have a paid developer account at $99 to benefit from it. While this obviously raises serious questions of stability and the general public is strongly advised against carrying out the operation, others have already equipped themselves with an iPhone dedicated to the test. For them, the risks are lower.

To install this version, you will first need to have an Apple ID. Then just follow a few simple steps, after checking that the iPhone is sufficiently charged and connected to astable Wi-Fi network. Find them below.

The procedure to follow

Please note, the maneuver contains text in English. However, we have adapted it to iPhones set to French.

sign in with your Apple ID email address and password
accept the terms of use by checking the associated box
We also advise you to uncheck the box to not receive additional emails
validate by clicking on the blue button
enter the iPhone to update and associated with the same Apple ID
open the Settings app
to touchGeneral
to touchSoftware update
to touchBeta updates
to touchiOS 17 Developer Beta
return to the previous menu, wait a little if necessary: the update to iOS 17 (beta) will appear there
to touchDownload and install
enter the iPhone password if necessary
follow the steps shown next

Caution

Warning: the procedure can take several tens of minutes, especially if your connection is slow. Be aware, moreover, that your iPhone may displaypoorly translated featuresin French after installing the beta. And for good reason: it is above all dedicated to developers, who necessarily master the language of Shakespeare.

Finally, we can never point it out enough, butheavy technical problemsmay occur after updating. It is therefore better not to deploy it on a smartphone which must remain available in the event of an emergency.

NB: first generation iPhone SE, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus andiPhone Xare not compatible with iOS 17.
