3G/4G mobile Internet consumption: the US at nearly 5 GB monthly, Europe much less, explosion by 2020

At the end of February, App Annie established a
post-Mobile World Congress report fromthe state of the industry
mobile
, using the Barcelona show to try to
predict future trendson the manufacturer side, but also
on the user side. One of the points discussed is mobile data. And for
the 3.7 billion GB of mobile dataconsumed each month
in 2015, the most greedy were North Americans, well ahead of
Europeans. The GSM Association even plansa boom in the use of
the movable date
within 4 to 5 years on these two continents:

Which is not without making one think ofthe increase in envelopes
data in current mobile plans
. It is in fact not uncommon to
now regularly find offers with 10 GB of data per month under the
bar of 10 € monthly (The
Mobile Posts
Currently).

Even if in France and Europe, we are not at the momentthan to
1.8 GB of average data per subscriber
per month in 2015, when an American
consumed that same year4.4 GB of data per month.

The App Annie report also cites the GSM Association according to which by
2020, monthly data consumption in Europe and North America
will be multiplied by five. The increase should be less
significant in the rest of the world, but still very significant, with
the democratization of mobile messaging usesas
Whatts App, Facebook Messenger, QQ Mobile or even WeChat.

Note also that in certain areas of the globe, the smartphone remains
one of the only ways to access the internet, which does not risk
to slow down the global use of mobile data, quite the contrary.
