Original article from September 2:
The month of September has just started. And if you have been following tech news for a number of years, you will have noticed that this last summer month is generally the one chosen by Apple to present its most important keynote of the year, the one during which the new generation of iPhone is revealed, among other announcements.
But unless you work for the Californian, no one knows to this day when this famous keynote was planned this time. Let us try to establish the most probable hypothesis on this subject,by defining the day that we think should be the day of the next special Apple iPhone 13 conference.
The history of Apple's back-to-school keynotes
Let's first look at the history of the Cupertino company in this area, over the last 9 years:
- 2020: September 15 (Tuesday)
- 2019: September 10 (Tuesday)
- 2018: September 12 (Wednesday)
- 2017: September 12 (Tuesday)
- 2016: September 7 (Wednesday)
- 2015: September 9 (Wednesday)
- 2014: September 9 (Tuesday)
- 2013: September 10 (Tuesday)
- 2012: September 12 (Wednesday)
We can clearly see that Apple generally aimsbefore September 15 for his back-to-school keynote, with an attraction for the start of the week, Tuesday preferably, even if Wednesday is also keynote day 4 times out of the last 9 presentations in September.
This already leads us to think that the keynote should take place this yearduring the week of September 6orduring that of September 13. We can then eliminate the hypothesis of the week of September 6. Indeed, Apple generally announces its keynote7 days before its broadcast date. So, if the keynote takes place on Tuesday September 7 or Wednesday September 8, we should already know.
What do the rumors say?
There remains the hypothesis of the week of September 13, with apresentation possible on Tuesday 14, or even Wednesday 15. This hypothesis would hold water given that arecent rumorannounced the release of the new iPhones on September 24. Historically, new iPhones are released a week after their pre-order launch. And pre-orders generally begin on Friday of the same week as the keynote.
With the iPhone 13 releasing on September 24, pre-orders would begin on September 17. This resulted in a keynote in the same week,Tuesday 14th or Wednesday 15th, therefore.
Finally, several analystsdont Dan Iveshave joined forces in recent months on the release of new iPhones induring the month of September. If last year was special, with a delayed and two-stage release for the iPhone 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this time, we can imagine that the Californian giant was less taken by surprise. The iPhone 13 with a September release date then seems a likely prediction to us, which eliminates the week of September 20 as a keynote week.
After cross-referencing this information, the keynote should, in our opinion, take place the week of September 13. We would bet onTuesday, September 14, 7 p.m. preferably, with the hypothesis of a presentation on Wednesday September 15 at 7 p.m. to keep in mind.
We will theoretically be set next Tuesday, September 7, the date on which Apple should announce its keynote on September 14, if we were right.
