The suite of featuresApple Intelligencewill not be the same in China, because of the regulations in force. Companies that offer generative artificial intelligence to their users must indeed comply with the country's laws.

No ChatGPT in China?
At Apple, features that use artificial intelligence draw their resources in three ways: directly locally, thanks to the power of Apple Silicon chips, or via secure external Apple servers, which areequipped with M2 Ultra chips.
The third solution, an LLM chosen by Apple to process requests from users who use generative AI, is to use the services of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. This solution does not suit the government of the Middle Kingdom, which imposes on Apple a service that the Chinese Cyberspace Administration approves. More simply, the generative intelligence service in question must be entirely managed by China.
Apple faced the same type of problem with iCloud, sinceChina does not tolerate its citizens' data being stored by a foreign company.
What about Apple servers with M2 Ultra?
It is not yet known whether the Middle Kingdom will approve Apple's Private Cloud Computer solution. As a reminder, this is the system that allows iOS 18 to take advantage of the power of the M2 Ultra remotely, completely secure. Thanks to this option, even Apple does not have access to user data, but it is not known whether China will agree to support it. This could pose big confidentiality problems if she refuses, because the solutionmust use private user data to work well.
Regarding OpenAI's replacement for generative AI capabilities in China, Apple could choose between Alibaba, Baidu, or Baichuan.
