Withthe arrival of Free in January
2012in the mobile telephony market, France has become a
country apart.
Indeed, choosing to dissociate the purchase of the mobile from the price of the package,
Free has completely changed our habits.
Thus, during the past year, smartphones sold
without subsidysaw sales explode. This is what comes
highlight a recent study done by GFK:
Even if overall 85% of the 13.5 million Smartphones sold in 2012
will have been with a subsidy, it is by being interestedto the circuit of
sales specific to distribution(Internet, Hypermarkets and Large
Specialized Surfaces) that the numbers become more interesting.
According to the study, the phenomenon is more than significant and specific to the
France. Thus, in the third quarter of 2012,2 smartphones
out of 3 sold are without subsidythat is to say without associated package
which allows you to get your new phone with a big discount.
Surprisingly, these areentry-level smartphones that
carve out a good share of the markete. In supermarkets, which
offer a wide choice of models, models for less than €150 represent
one in three sales.
Obviously, payment facilities and other reimbursement offers
implemented by the new operators are not foreign to the
phenomenon.
In one year, consumer behavior has evolved enormously thanks to or
because of the arrival of Free. Today, many people cannot imagine
not being able to pay €50 per month for 2 hours of telephone time and 500 MB data…
And how did you buy your last iPhone?
With or without subsidy?
