1st HomeKit home automation components: controlled socket, door detection, weather, air with Eve from Elgato

concerning the arrival on the market of compatible home automation components
HomeKit, they are (almost) there!

It is the German company Elgato which gets the ball rolling, less than a week before
the Apple conference, revealing the prices and components of its solution
“Eve” home automation, compatible with iPhone and iPad:

, with a marketing date planned for the end of 2014
…It is ultimately more than 6 months later that the products will be
available!

The range, rather complete, is made up of components communicating without
wired by Bluetooth, they are powered by replaceable batteries and avoid
therefore to run cables in the house. Ordering is done via an app or
vocally with Siri.

There are the following modules:

  • EveRoom: detects air quality,
    temperature and humidity inside (79.95 euros)
  • EveDoor & Windowallows the Eve system to know if
    doors and windows are opened or closed from your iPhone/iPad (39.95
    euros)
  • EveEnergy: plugs between an electrical outlet and
    a device to decipher energy consumption but also
    turn them off or on with a simple gesture or by voice command with Siri
    (49,95 euros)
  • EveWeather, to put outside, on the balcony or in
    the garden. This module detects temperature, humidity and pressure
    atmospheric (49.95 euros).

The app is
already available on the App Store here
, it allows you to visualize
the data collected by Eve and to control the accessories equipped with the
technology HomeKit.

In terms of prerequisites, the Eve installation requires an iPhone, an iPad or
an iPod touch with iOS 8.3 or later. We also note that for
control HomeKit compatible accessoriesfrom outside the
domicile
(via remote Internet), you musthave a
Apple TV
(3rd generation minimum) with Apple TV 7.0 software or
later and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with iOS 8.1 or later.

Without Apple TV, control and use remain local, within reach
Bluetooth.

Finally, the HomeKit program launched by Apple with iOS 8 last September
comes to fruition, we should see other products arriving shortly.
