The project for a mobile version still in the works at Epic Games
On this subject, the CEO confided that Epic Games still had the ambition to offer an iOS and Android version of the store. It states: “We'd like to bring the store to iOS in the future, and we'll bring it to Android first. We think it's a good way to help the industry move forward and it's another way for Epic, as a game developer, to build an audience around Fortnite and learn to operate a distribution platform on PC and Android».
Tim Sweeney added: “Now, as we've done with many things from the Unreal Engine to Epic Online Services, we're opening it up for all other developers to use with their games and trying to serve the industry and to provide a truly interesting alternative to the ecosystem».
The Epic Games mobile store project has been in the news for several months, so much so that the initiative was already mentioned last fall. It is clear that the latter is still relevant although no date has been mentioned in more detail.
A month ago,the publisher of the famous game Fortnitehas lifted the veil on Unreal Engine 5, a universal graphics engine dedicated to video game consoles, but also to PCs and mobiles running iOS or Android.
