If the fact
that the shelves of the App Store are well filled is a good thing for
users of iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, it is not necessarily
even fordevelopers who sometimes struggle to make a
nom.
In its latest study, Distimo is particularly interested in
to new developers who are trying as best they can to break through
a pathto the top of the App Store.
As you will see, this is not an easy thing:
If we are to believe the figures revealed by Distimo, amongthe 250
first applications present on the App Store only 2% were
offered by new developers.Worse still, if we
is interested in the top 300, we notice that only 17% of applications are
news. Everything else is composed of application already well
established.
As you know, to appear high in the ranking,
the application must be downloaded a certain number of times. Some, very
expected, even arrive atexceed one million downloads as soon as
the first day.Recently, this was the case for Temple Run 2 and
Google Maps.
As you can see, most applications that come to
to rise to the top of the rankings are offered by developers well
knowns like Facebook, Disney, Gameloft… However, some less
known as the creators of The Blockheads still managed to make
a place in the sun.
Being downloaded many times is a good thing, but when it comes
to earn money, the number of downloads is not necessarily a guarantee of
turnover. On the list ofapplications that generate the most
income, we find at the top, and this is not a surprise,
the Angry Birds followed by GTA Vice City and Temple
Run.
1 Paswword is the only utility app to succeed in finding its place in
this Top 10 most profitable apps.
If you are a very young developer getting ready to release your first
app, don't despair. Although today it seems difficult to do
a place, apps like The Blockheads, or even Temple Run published by a
Petit Studio, prove that this is possible.
The bottom line is that there is not room for everyone.
