HBO is an American channel mainly known for its successful productions, such as Game of Thrones, but also True Blood, Big Little Lies and Boardwalk Empire. Richard Pepler was appointed CEO of the latter in 2013. Last February, however, an announcement marked the end of the story between the man and the internationally renowned audiovisual giant.
But R. Pepler is not done producing content for television. Since leaving HBO, he has set up his own company, Eden Productions, to design television shows, documentaries, films and series.
And it was at the start of 2020, a year presenting itself as the beginnings of a merciless war on the online streaming market, that important news broke. Apple managed to secure an exclusive contract with Richard Pepler and his new production company.
In short, for the next 5 years, Eden Productions will only produce content for Apple TV+. Richard Pepler commented on the announcement of this collaboration with great potential, specifying that the Californian firm was the only player proposing a serious offer, according to him, among those who had tried to attract its services.
We therefore hope to see in the coming years the Apple TV+ catalog be enriched with films and series in the vein of those which have made HBO famous in recent years.
At the moment, Apple TV+ only offers a little content. But the service has only been available on the market since November 1. In the coming months, it should probably be enriched with notable new features. We know that the Californian firm has worked with Steven Spielberg, but also other big names in Hollywood for its in-house streaming service.
