Several patents filed by Apple tend to prove that the brand continues to work on a new version of the iMac. This could integrate the keyboard and mouse into the rest of the chassis, or even betotally portable like a MacBook. Unfortunately, it is impossible to know if the manufacturer is indeed preparing to market this edition one day, especially since rumors about a twenty-seven-inch model have been denied by some analysts.
But in the meantime, we can always look at the models created by third-party engineers to imagine the future of the iMac range. This is the case of a brand new concept - functional! - which appeared on social networks and wherethe “chin” of the computer with M1 chip has disappeared. This imposing bar under the panel would currently be necessary to avoid reducing the lifespan of the display, thanks to a processor located at a distance from it rather than just behind it. But some manufacturers already know how to do without it, with machines running Windows.
A small feat
This new iMac withborders of equal thicknessall around the screen clearly offers a more attractive design, but at the cost of another characteristic of the device: its bulkiness. Indeed, to create this version, it was necessary to move certain components to the back. As a result, the computer is ultimately no longer as thin as before even if its appearance remains very premium.

Here, however, all the functionalities of the product have been retained, starting with those of its proprietary operating system, namelymacOS. It is also possible to control the interface via the Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard as with the original edition. Four USB-C ports dedicated to data transfer or connecting accessories are installed on the back. As for the front camera for videoconferencing, its sensor is placed at the top and without a notch.
A computer that is not available in store
For the aluminum shell of this 24-inch iMac, it was also necessary toreplace with another chassisprinted in three dimensions. An operation which is therefore not within everyone's reach, not to mention that the creators do not intend to one day sell this concept for the moment.
A good idea, probably to avoid attracting the wrath of Apple…
