Interview with Jonathan Ive by Ana Wintour in Vogue

On the occasion of the eventRE:WIRED, the famous fashion designer Ana Wintour was able to speak with the former Apple designer to find out more about her upcoming projects. Jony Ive recalls that he continues to work with Apple but through his new company, LoveFrom. The agency also collaborates with other brands such as sports car manufacturer Ferrari.

As one would expect, however, Ive added nothing regarding his partnership with Apple so speculation is rife. We still know that the artist has already worked on the iMac with M1 processor since his departure, but it is still impossible to know if he has also remodeled other finishes such asthose of the latest AirPods. Among its other clients, we also find Moncler, Amazon Collective and Airbnb.

On Steve Jobs

Another key point that we remember from the interview: Steve Jobs. Eventen years after leaving Cupertino, the founder thus continues to make an impression, because even if he happened to be wrong “he was much more interested in learning than being right“, according to Ive. The two men worked together for many years, leading to successes such as the iPod and the iPad. Since then, Ive has even been knighted by Queen Elizabeth II of England (he is of British origin).

Jobs, for his part, died of cancer in 2011, causing a wave of emotion across the world. Many consider it to be his comeback and vision that saved Apple from bankruptcy in the late 1990s.

About connected objects

When asked about the future of wearables, Ive believes that they will one day be an integral part of our body, capable of “disappear under our skin“. A statement which in fact already fits with reality, researchers having for example already imagined nanorobots to intervene directly from the organs. In the same vein, we can also cite smart patches which embed sensors to measure various crucial health signals.
