Last night, Apple publishedan update
important, iOS 10.3, which includes a lot of interesting new features
like a “Find My AirPods” feature, new voice commands to
Siri, and many others, but alsoan impressive list of
fixes.
Among these fixes, the Cupertino company has justcorrect a
security breachserious inSafariWho
allowed a hacker toblock a user's browser and
ask him for a ransom.
More specifically, when a user visited certain sites that
hosted a script exploiting this flaw, the latter was executed and
displayedloop a pop-up windowon Safari, preventing
to use the browser.
A message was also displayed encouraging the victim to pay a ransom under
form of iTunes gift card to be able to use Safari again.
According to the Arstechnica newspaper, this ransomware or ransomware targeted
mainly users who visit pornographic sites or
download illegal content such as music, films, and others.
Affected users could fix the issue by deleting
browsing history and site data in the settings of
Safari.
Fortunately, iOS 10.3 corrects this problem, and many others like the
