iOS 13.4 consumes mobile data without warning

On March 24,iOSwill welcome its next version which isalready available for developers. But until then, there are still some technical issues to resolve. One of them concerns the network chip, which seems to activate automatically in the background without the user having chosen to call on it. According to the publisher, this problem has been known for several months.

Likethe clipboard security flaw,Appledoes not intend to correct this incident quickly. We might even have to waitWWDC onlineso that a solution can be put in place.

Am I affected?

To find out if you are one of the victims, start by identifying the model of smartphone you are using. Only theiPhoneX, 11 and XR are affected at the moment. Then, here is the procedure to follow:

  1. Access the appSettings
  2. Click on the menuCellular data
  3. Go down toUninstalled apps

If the amount of MB spent is then excessive, bingo. To remedy this, the only alternative for the moment is to downgradeupdateand return to iOS 12. Except that this is actually impossible, since Apple now blocks this manipulation.

Otherwise, you canset a data limitnot to exceed, from your operator or the telephone directly. It is also possible to set up alerts to know when the threshold is exceeded. And it is strongly recommended: this bug can in fact consume up to several GB per day! A serious cost, not only for your bank account, but also for the increasingly overloaded antennas during this period of confinement.
