Update: Public betas are available.
Yesterday, Apple released a third round of beta (developers) foriOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6 and tvOS 14.7.
The launch of this new series of test versions begins two weeks after therelease of the second betaand a week laterthe release of iOS first betas for iOS 15 and other new Apple OSseen at WWDC 2021.
Regarding iOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6 and tvOS 14.7., for now, here are the new features that have been noticed, in addition to the usual bug fixes and security improvements:
- Weather report: the app displays the air quality in France. The information is also available in the Plans app
- HomePod: setting timer(s) from the Home app directly, without going through Siri or even going through the speaker
Note that it was also noticed that the iOS 14.7 beta 2 update caused a major malfunction on iPhone. Indeed, after installation, a SIM Failure error appeared among some testers, indicating that the SIM card could not be read. Thus, this involves stopping the functions linked to the SIM card: telephone calls, cellular data and SMS.Only devices with eSIM would be affected though. Hopefully the bug is no longer relevant for the new beta 3.
While it is advisable to avoid installing a beta version on a priority use device, such as your main iPhone, this is even more true with this new test version.
In any case, if you spot other changes, bugs or features, don't hesitate to tell us in the comments!
