Ross Young, a renowned analyst who has already mentioned the likely appearance of a new iPhone SE 5G in 2022, also made some predictions about the iPhone 13 of 2021.
According to him, ProMotion technology should be available on Apple smartphones next year. The adoption of this characteristic would be made possible by the use of polysilicon OLED cells. The statement therefore contradicts several recent rumors according to which ProMotion could arrive on iPhone 12.
But for Ross Young and other analysts elsewhere, we will have to be more patient and bet on the iPhone 13 to have such a screen.
Remember that ProMotion allows for improved image refreshing with a frequency of up to 120 Hz. 120 Hz screens are already offered on other mobile devices, notably on iPad Pro, but also on Android competitors. But the technology has the drawback of costing more and using more energy than a traditional 60 Hz screen, which is why Apple could have chosen to further improve its ProMotion panels before integrating them into the iPhone. Ross Young rightly states in this regard that for the 2021 generation of iPhone, the OLED panels and in particular the touch part would benefit from a new technology which would notably make it possible to reduce the manufacturing cost of the panel.
