The iPhone 14 Plus seems to be a real flop for Apple

In September, Apple unveiled its premium smartphones like every year. The brand then confirmed, without much surprise, the end of the rangemini, for the benefit of aiPhone 14 Plus 6.7 inches, but without the triple rear photo sensor of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Its price, a little more expensive than the basic iPhone 14 (6.1 inches), comes to 1,169 euros, compared to 1,019 euros for the first. With the same A15 Bionic chip under the hood.

But while the collectionminiseemed to have been abandoned followingdisappointing sales, it could well be that the figures for iPhone 14 Plus units sold are even worse. Several reports have already been published to this effect, followed by another estimate just shared by Ross Young (DSCC). For the analyst, it is therefore clear that we should hardly find an iPhone 14 Plus under the tree…

Better than last year

Young explains, however, thatthe statistics of the iPhone 14 are already better than those of the iPhone 13last year. This therefore in theory only bodes well for Apple's next financial results, which will be announced at the end of January. Among the success factors of the last quarter, we can also cite Black Friday promotions, end-of-year holiday gifts and even New Year celebrations.

For more precise numbers, Young mentions subcontractors who received screen orders from Apple10% more importantthan in 2021, when the iPhone 13s were still kings in stores. Note also that these items are still offered for sale: count 909 euros for the 6.1-inch version or 809 euros for the iPhone 13 mini, which is today the only and last way to opt for a slab of 5.4 inches at Cupertino. Otherwise, for compact format aficionados, the third generation iPhone SE also does the job very well (4.7 inches).

Record for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max

Other notable data shared by Young:64% of sales of the iPhone 14 series would actually be made byiPhone 14 Proor iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, they are the most expensive. For comparison, for the iPhone 13 generation, the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max were also in the majority, but only at 51%.

Note: all these results remain estimates, to be considered with some caution.
