First AirTags update in six months; gradual deployment

Apple has just started sending an update for AirTags to their owners. Apparently, no additional features are included this time. Nothing very surprising:AirPods often suffer the same fate. We therefore assume, as is often the case, that these are above all improvements in stability orsecurityand bug fixes. This is why it is still essential to install this new version of the software.

To do this, nothing could be simpler: simply check that your AirTag ispaired via Bluetoothto your iPhone and that the button battery still retains a minimum of autonomy. The mobile must also be connected to the web, preferably via Wi-Fi to avoid possible additional data consumption costs from your operator. Then it's just a matter of being patient. The download will happen automatically in the background, as it is not possible to trigger it manually.

This new version of the AirTag operating system has the build number2A24eand succeeds the previous one, numbered 1.0.301 and released in April 2022 without big changes either. Sending to the affected devices will take a few days and it is likely that you have not received anything yet: in this case, no worries. You just have to wait to be entitled to it.

More precisely, all AirTags would be entitled to the 2A24e updateDecember 1st. For the moment, only 1% of the park would be eligible. Within a week, 17% of AirTags should receive it, compared to 25% as of November 25. Apple has not yet published a support document concerning this new version but this will not take long, if the firm conforms to its habits in this area.
