iPhone 14 Pro: Apple has decided to rely on Samsung for the screen

Apple is a competitor of Samsung in smartphones, but it is also one of the customers of its subsidiary Samsung Display. This not only manufactures screens for Galaxy smartphones, but also for models from other brands, including Apple.

And of course, Samsung is one of the companies that supplies screens to Apple for its new iPhone 14. Moreover, regarding the screens ofiPhone 14 ProetiPhone 14 Pro Max, the Korean giant could well see its order book swell.

In an article published this week, Korean media The Elec indicates that Samsung Display should obtain more orders for the low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) OLED panels used in high-end iPhone 14 models. Apple has indeed decided to order more screens of this type, for the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, from Samsung.

Indeed, Samsung's competitors for the production of these screens are currently having performance problems (a problem that Samsung would also have encountered during the production of the Galaxy Note 20 screens, but which it has already resolved). And as a result, Apple has decided to order more from the Korean giant.

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max: the two models that are selling well?

According to The Elec, Samsung has already ordered new equipment from its suppliers, to prepare for this increase in orders from Apple. Samsung Display's initial forecasts would have been 130 million OLED-type screens to be delivered to Apple. But now, the Samsung subsidiary would expect to deliver 149 million.

For the moment, of course, this information should be considered with caution, since it does not come from an official source. But in any case, given that Apple has focused the main new features of its iPhone 14 series on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, we can expect these models to sell well.

We'll probably have to wait a few weeks to get a clear idea of the popularity of each model in the iPhone 14 series. But if we rely on a recentanalysis by Ming Chi Kuo, which observed delivery times during the pre-order phase, the iPhone 14 Pro Max should sell better compared to its predecessor. The iPhone 14 Pro would also have very good performance.
