A report from the Chinese newspaperCTEEreports new information, which reportedly comes directly from the Apple supply chain. According to the data collected, it could be thatthe iPhone 16 is off to a flying start, with a number of sales much higher than its predecessor.
100 million sales from September
CTEEforecasts no less than 100 million sales for the iPhone 16, from September 2024. For comparison, estimates were 80 to 90 million for the iPhone 15 range. We are of course talking here about the entire model sold, this includes the base models, the Plus, the Pro/Pro Max. A little aside to remind you thatthe “Plus” model of the iPhone could disappear from the range this fall, in favor of something else.
This prediction is considered reliable because it is based on orders from Apple's partner and subcontractor,TSMC. The latter would have in fact received increased demand for chips from Apple.
Change of philosophy
This year, the Apple firm is changing its chip deployment strategy, probably because of Apple Intelligence. The features that use Apple's artificial intelligence could also be part of the increase in sales estimates mentioned above. As a reminder, they areonly compatible with iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max or iPhone 16. Therefore, even those who own an iPhone 14 Pro Max will not be able to enjoy Apple Silicon.
Concerning the change in terms of deployment of new chips, it is changing. Previously, only iPhone Pros were entitled to the latest Apple Silicon. Normally, the iPhone 16 range should have included the same chip as the iPhone 15 Pro, namely the A17, but this will probably not be the case. Apple has in fact chosen to equip the entire iPhone with an A18 chip,in several variations however.
