Already last year,the European Commission had criticized Apple for
not sufficiently informing its customers about the legal guarantee of which
they benefitwith each purchase.
Following this, the Cupertino company made some changes,
but, if we are to believe Vivian Reding, European Commissioner for Justice,
these are not sufficient:
According to her, Apple continued to remain silent about the two years of
mandatory warranty in order to sell more Apple Care.
Vivian Reding claims Apple is not providing necessary information
in at least 21 states of the union. It encourages the European executive to
play a more important role in the application of consumption rules.
In the meantime, she emphasizes that complaints have been filed by
consumer associations in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and
Portugal. Apple has also stopped marketing Apple Care in Italy
in November after the competition authority sentenced him to
pay a fine.
