When it comes to gaming, in 2012, smartphones overtook portable consoles

With the advent of smartphones, gaming habits have evolved significantly.
From now on, we play everywhere, all the time, but no longer necessarily on
dedicated devices like portable consoles.

Indeed, a recent study shows that iOS and Android smartphones
are now arriving ahead of portable consoles from Nintendo and
Sony :

In 2012, on both iOS and Android, games represented a third of
applications downloaded, i.e. around 20 billion downloads. For
as much, the majority of expenses made by users (around 60% on
iOS and 80% on Android) were for the game.

As we can see, the revenue generated by games is much more
important on iOS than on Android. By adding the numbers of the two
mobile platforms, we realize that they are arriving ahead of consoles
portable. In other words, in 2012, consumers spent more
to enjoy games on mobile as well as on portable consoles.

For your part, do you prefer to play on your iPhone or on your
console ?
