The news follows one another and is similar regarding the Apple Watch. It's no longer a secret that Apple's connected watches pretty much dominate the global market. A study just published by Counterpoint Research analysts estimates that 40% of smartwatches sold in the fourth quarter of 2020 worldwide were Apple Watches.
In detail, the Apple Watch SE and the Apple Watch Series 6 have sold 12.9 million copies according to experts. That's good, but it represents a slight decline compared to the fourth quarter of 2019.

The apple brand largely dominates the competition. Thus, Samsung, its main rival, only represented around 10% market share during the last three months of the year.
Sujeong Lim, one of the authors of this note, also specifies:
The smartwatch market is driven by three premium brands – Apple, Samsung and Huawei. We believe these high-priced models will continue to rise over the next two to three years as these companies' flagship models continue to dominate. On the other hand, Apple's success with its Watch SE model will likely inspire other companies like Samsung to release similar variants, moving closer to the mass market.
These conclusions are in line with other previous studies which already reported the great success of the Apple Watch. Neil Cybart of Above Avalon believes that the symbolic bar of100 million Apple Watch ownerswas exceeded last December. The Cupertino company played a pioneering role in the market compared to its competitors. The expert also explains that one in ten iPhone owners also has an Apple Watch, which still gives us hope for a good margin of progress for the years to come.
The company continues to innovate to convince the public, as evidenced by the arrival last year of the serviceApple Fitness+in the United States.
