For several years now, rumors are rifeabout an augmented reality headset launched by Apple. Things really seem to be becoming clearer. According to the analyst who is always very well informed about the Apple brand, Ming-Chi Kuo, the company should launch its new device at the end of 2022.
The headset should work autonomously without a Mac or iPhone
According to the expert, it would also be equipped with a pair of high-end processors. The main one would be equivalent to the M1 chip introduced last year on Macs. The second would be responsible for ensuring that the sensors of the new product work properly.
Other information revealed by the specialist: the headset could work autonomously and there would be no need to connect it to a Mac or an iPhone. Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple is even seeing the very long term and the headset would thus be equipped “a full range of applications". What will replace the iPhone within ten years?
The expert also confirms a noise that we have heard a lot in recent months. Thus, this new product would not be content with augmented reality but would also be capable of supporting virtual reality by relying on a pair of 4K Micro OLED screens from Sony.
Quoted by MacRumors, Ming-Chi Kuo, specifies:
Apple's virtual reality headset requires a separate processor because the sensor's computing power is significantly higher than that of the iPhone. For example, the augmented reality headset requires at least 6-8 optical modules to simultaneously provide continuous video augmented reality services to users. In comparison, an iPhone requires up to 3 optical modules operating simultaneously and does not require continuous computing.
As always, Apple has not confirmed its plans in this area, nor made this project official. You will still have to be patient before knowing more about this.
