Update: iOS 17.0.3 is available and supposed to fix the iPhone 15 Pro heating issues.
The last two weeks have been very hectic for Apple. The Apple brand launched its new iPhone 15 during a back-to-school conference on September 12. Since then, phones have been in the news, but not always for the better. Apple actually encountered many problems during the first days of use. The most serious matter concerns the overheating of the Pro and Pro Max models.
In order to correct the situation as quickly as possible, Apple will publish severalsoftware updates. “Digital bandages” to allow iPhone 15s to function normally. According to the latest information fromMacRumors,Apple is reportedly working on iOS 17.0.3. This update should definitively resolve the issue of iPhone overheating.
For the moment no release date has been given by Apple, but MacRumors informants are counting on a launch to the general public by the end of the week or the beginning of next week at the latest.
Overheating is not caused by hardware
Long pointed out, the new architecture of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max (in titanium) would not be responsible for the overheating of the phones. Indeed, the problem would be linked to the software and the A17 Pro processor, the most powerful ever integrated into an iPhone, would also have nothing to do with this overheating problem.
According to Apple's various press releases on the subject, the overheating of iPhone 15s is caused by too much access tobackground refreshof certain third-party applications. Services like Instagram or Uber have been singled out by the Cupertino company.
Apple says it is working with developers at these companies to find solutions and limit background refreshing of these apps. The Cupertino company wants to succeed in making the right compromise between a lighter update and always very good quality services for the user. The ideal would be for the latter to see no difference between before and after the update.
