The manufacturer “Nothing” will integrate iMessage into its smartphones

Is the war between Apple and Google over iMessage about to end? The Chinese manufacturer Nothing, known for its transparent smartphones, could have found common ground for the two American giants. Indeed, Nothing has just announced the launch of “Nothing Chat” within a few weeks in its OS.

Concretely, this messaging application will be closer to what already exists on Android smartphones, but, for the first time, the application will be compatible with Apple's iMessage. To achieve such a feat, Nothing built its messaging application on the Sunbird tool. This independent software allows you to connect users outside of Apple's network in iMessage conversations.

In a video presentation of this new feature, the CEO of nothing, Carl Pei explains that “Nothing Chat” will be able to support individual or group discussions. They will all be end-to-end encrypted for added security. The Chinese brand also promises the sending of full-size media, as well as the sending of voice notes.

The end of the RCS war?

This new application could allow Apple to resolve a major conflict between it and Google. The two companies have a different service to do the same thing, they have been trying for several months to gain the upper hand over their direct opponent in the name of “universality” and “ease of use”.

On the one hand, Apple explains that its iMessage service is already very efficient and the Apple brand has no reason to want to change it. On the other hand, Google is asking for the introduction of RCS in the iPhone. This new standard for SMS should make it easier to send photos or even voice notes. Features already available in the Apple ecosystem with iMessage.

In this “bubble war” Nothing seems to have found an interesting compromise. We must now monitor Google's position. Nothing says that the Android maker will agree to bend the knee and make iMessage a default messaging solution on all smartphones around the world. It's even very unlikely.
