We have just learned that the most popular music app on iPhone will offer a new formula. However, this is not thePreviously announced Superpremium, but a special subscription for audio books.
The offerSuperPremium, is in facthighly anticipated by some Spotify users, especially fans of listening to music in very high quality. This is because it should offer a superior audio format, such asApple MusicetTidal. However, the firm does not seem to want to offer this formula at the moment. In the meantime, it is optimizing its audiobook service.
Why this subscription?
This new subscription follows the introduction of audiobooks on the platform in 2022. When they arrive inSpotify, they were not very successful, because they were offered for purchase, but were not included in the subscription. About a year later, in October 2023, CEO Daniel EK announced that half of the catalog would be offered to subscribersSpotify Premium, at no additional cost, for more than 150,000 audiobooks. This offer aimed in particular to gauge user interestPremiumfor this type of content, in order to see if the firm should continue in this direction.
It's unclear what came out of this analysis, but apparently,Spotifywould have noticed that audiobooks generate a lot of interest among free users. According toTechChrunch, Spotify noted “a 45% increase in free users searching for and interacting with audiobook content each day". It therefore therefore offers a new subscription especially for them.
$9.99 for 3 p.m.
