The next iPhone SE could have Face ID

Jon Prosser is talking about him again. The self-proclaimed analyst is a reliable person when it comes to the Apple brand. So when he comes on the Geared Up podcast, everyone listens. According to the Apple brand's expert, the next iPhone SE will have a design close to that of the iPhone XR, if not identical.

As a reminder in 2018, one year laterthe release of the iPhone, Apple markets the iPhone XR, a generation that will never have a sequel. Inexpensive, the telephone quickly found a place in a large number of homes. This “student” iPhone was eventually replaced by the 2nd generation iPhone SE in 2020.

An iPhone SE 4: with Face ID?

With the arrival of a third generation in 2022, experts expected that Apple would rather take the features of the iPhone Tim Cook kept it simple and kept an identical version of the iPhone SE.

According to Prosser, it is this choice of the shape of the telephone that will have to evolve. He explains in fact that Apple will move to the chassis ofl’iPhone XRfor its next SE. The latter is also planned to be marketed at the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.

The biggest change should therefore be the arrival of Face ID instead of Touch ID on the next iPhone SE. Highly anticipated, the arrival of such a feature in a phone at an advantageous price could make this next model a real little phenomenon that we will find in many hands.

No changes inside the phone

If the physical changes were therefore important, Apple could limit itself with regard to internal developments. With an iPhone SE (from 2022) which already has an A13 Bionic chip – what Apple does best – the margin for progress is quite short for Apple.

Especially when we know that many rumors expect the iPhone 14 to keep the same A13 chip. It would therefore be present on three iPhones at the same time, an unprecedented first. With this non-evolution of processors in Apple phones, the next iPhone SE should also remain atthe A13 chip.
