Apple's subscription magazine service planned for spring 2019

Last March, Apple bought the company Texture, which provides a subscription service to more than 220 online magazines, for a subscription of $10 per month. With this acquisition, Apple wants to try to become one of the main press distribution channels.

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple is preparinga subscription service to its News app, which we remind you is still not available in France. This service could arrive quite quickly, fromspring 2019in the United States.

For the moment, only the News widget installed by default on iPhones is available in France, and this onegenerates monstrous trafficfor the French media who are lucky enough to be among those elected.

A team within Apple led by Eddy Cue, a former executive at Conde Nast, met with several American media executives to convince them to adopt their solution.

However, these media arereluctant to be part of Apple's offering, for fear that revenues will be below expectations. But Apple is trying to convince them that the number of users could be higher than what they get on their own.

Press editors would be paid, based on the time spent, by readers on their articles. Articles that would have a web format with a lot of media elements.

With this Netflix subscription offer, but for the press, Apple wants to try to reproduce the success of Apple Music, in another category.

Still, we certainly risk not seeing this subscription magazine service in France for some time, given that Apple News is still missing subscribers.
