Vision Pro launches with even more apps than iPhone

The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset is available starting today. For the occasion, the manufacturer has just revealed the number of apps available at launch: there are more than six hundred! That is 20% more than when the App Store arrived on the iPhone in July 2008. Among the main successes to discover with the new mixed reality headset, we can notably cite the case of the video platformZoomor evenMax(new name of the streaming offer from the American channel HBO).

A directory already exists, listing dozens of apps offered by the developers. Within their ranks, several games are also in the game, such asthe excellentWhere is Ploppy?to discover in pictures. The NBA franchise had also specified that a title from its license would be offered to basketball fans, when the Vision Pro was announced for the first time during the Worldwide Developer Conference. Apple's event was held last June, and the next edition is expected to be held in the same month in 2024.

Gaming in the spotlight

Always for entertainment, Apple explains that the famous titleJetpack Joyride 2also appears on the App Store for visionOS, but on one condition: that of having an Apple Arcade subscription. As a reminder, this service provides unlimited access to more than two hundred games, including Super Fruit NinjaorCut the Rope 3. Count on 6.99 euros per month to become a customer, or in theory less if you choose the Apple One bundle. For comparison, you previously had to pay only 4.99 euros per month to subscribe to Apple Arcade.

The platform also allows you to testBloons TD 6+,stitch.,Patterned,Illustrated,etWylde Flowers, to name only the latter. If you are a developer and you also want to design offers for the Apple Vision Pro, know that the Xcode software has recently been updated accordingly and now offers all the tools necessary for editing dedicated content. Augmented reality and virtual reality are obviously included, thanks to numerous cameras and sensors installed all around the helmet.

Price and availability

The Apple Vision Pro is not yet available in mainland France or in the rest of the European Union, for the moment. We do not yet know when it will be possible to obtain it from us, but rumors suggest that an associated release date will be announced before theWWDCfuture.

The Vision Pro costs a whopping $3,499 in the US, and could easily reach the4 000 euroson the Old Continent. Its price is explained in particular by the presence of two processors under the hood, namely the M2 and the R1. The motherboard is in fact considered the most expensive component after the screen, the latter being supplied here by the Japanese Sony, while it is TSMC (in Taiwan) which takes care of the semiconductors.
