While the Apple Glass project hasn't really been talked about in recent days, a new patent, filed with the American patent office, was published this week. Named “Method and device for generating a synthesized reality reconstruction of flat video content”, it develops the idea that Apple Glass couldbuild a 3D virtual or mixed reality environment from a video that is only two-dimensional.
Apple explains in its patent that the user of such technology may very well “want to experience the video content (for example, a television episode or a film) as if they were in the scene with the characters. In other words, the user wants to view the video content as an augmented reality experience instead of just watching the video content on a TV or other display device. »
Create 3D environments on demand
The Apple brand noted that virtual reality or augmented reality environments are “carefully created” in advance and that the user can choose which one they want to explore. But Apple believes it is possible to develop technology that can create these environments smoothly and seamlessly, depending on user demand.
If the patent mainly focuses on creating 3D universes from a video, Apple Glass would be quite capable of doing so from a photo or a text element.
If this very futuristic technology is not likely to appear on the general public market in the coming months. This patent clearly shows all the development work that Apple undertakes for each of these products, what's more, when it comes to Apple Glass, a brand new product,of which augmented reality should be one of the strong points.
