iPhone 12 would have reverse wireless charging?

According to the FCC, Uncle Sam's Federal Communications Commission, reverse charging which was not announced on the iPhone 12 would nevertheless be present. It must be said that rumors are not new around this bilateral or reverse wireless charging technology.

Indeed, already on the iPhone 11 last year, several components suggested that Apple was already preparing the ground in this area. A few days before Tim Cook's announcement of the iPhone 12, many brand experts still thought that reverse charging was going to be integrated into Apple's new product. But during the presentation conference, nothing was said on this subject, and it seems since then that this famous charging technology is not present.

But according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, it is not impossible that the technology is indeed present on the iPhone 12, the latter would be deactivated for the moment and would therefore bide its time.

Reverse charging revealed in a few months

Still according to this same source, Apple intends to present new AirPods at the start of 2021, and it is during this announcement that the reverse charging of the iPhone 12 would be revealed to the general public. Apple intends to allow the new headphones to benefit from wireless charging with MagSafe technology just like the iPhone 12. The latter would therefore be able to recharge Apple accessories like the future AirPods.

Information which is currently partial and no official announcement from Apple should arrive for several months. For their part, the first teardowns of the iPhone 12 did not blatantly show that it had the necessary components to allow reverse charging. Is the latter well hidden at the bottom of the new iPhones? Or another hypothesis, the project has been postponed to a future generation of iPhone and will not see the light of day with the release of AirPods 3 at the beginning of next year.
