The iPhone 17 is preparing to integrate high-performance screens across the entire range

Even thoughl’iPhone 16has only been available for a few days, speculation around the iPhone 17continue and are already attracting the attention of consumers. This, even if its release is not expected until 2025. Experts, such as Ross Young, recognized for his expertise in supply chains, announcevery important changes for the entire range, especially regarding their screens.

A new display standard for all models

So what are these major developments to expect? First, the extension of the display functionalities reserved for the Pro models to all other models in the range, including the standard versions. According to Young, all models, from the iPhone 17 to the iPhone 17 Air (also called “Slim”),should benefit from an LTPO screen(Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide), equipped with an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz, technology until now exclusive to Apple's high-end.

Another novelty, the arrival of ProMotion technology(which has been around since 2017) across the range, capable of dynamically adapting the frame rate based on usage. In use, what is the advantage? Increased visual comfort and energy saving. No need to drain the battery by rotating the panel at 120 Hz when scrolling through photos. For playing, on the other hand, it makes perfect sense.

Last point:the Always On Display feature could also benefit all models, which would make the standard iPhone particularly attractive for those who are hesitant to opt for the more expensive versions.

Specific advances for Pro models

As for the top end, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will also benefit from their own display improvements (no jealousy!). Ross Young indicates that one of the most anticipated innovations, the integration of Face ID under the screen, should finally be introduced with these models.

In this case, this would perhaps allow the existing Dynamic Island to disappear in favor of a more discreet device. A change which would then granta much cleaner display surfacewhich some fans of minimalist design would not deny. Another possibility not to be ruled out: the Dynamic Island could remain, but would undergo some adjustments in order to adapt to this new display design.

If these rumors prove to be real, they would be concrete witnesses of Apple's desire to offera premium user experience for all its users, regardless of the model chosen. A strategy therefore targeting a wider audience, which could prove profitable, particularly forpotential customers looking for a good performance/price ratio.

  • All iPhone 17 models could benefit from ProMotion technology.
  • The Always On Display could also be integrated across the entire range.
  • Changes to the integration of Face ID on the Pro and Pro Max are also possible.
