MacBook Pro, Mac mini and even iMac? The end of the year promises to be busy

Apple presented, somewhat to everyone's surprise, its M4 chip in the latest iPad Pro. But according to analyst Ross Young, the Cupertino company's high-end tablet will not be the only product marketed this year to use this processor.

In a tweet, he explains that shipments for 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro panels will begin in the third quarter of 2024. According to him, the correlation is obvious. This order from Apple only means one thing: the arrival of a new MacBook Pro on the market before the end of the year.

An opinion shared by specialist journalist Mark Gurman. In an article for Bloomberg he also mentioned the marketing of new computers this year. But a small nuance with Ross Young's words, Gurman is not talking about MacBook Pro. For the journalist it is simply a question of Mac mini.

Accompanied by an iMac?

In addition to the MacBook Pro and Mac mini, Apple could take advantage of the arrival of M4 chips in computers to update its iMac range. The Cupertino company has not yet worked on this computer since 2021 and the “colored” version of the computer, the only one to work with an Apple Silicon chip.

The arrival of this new processor should make it possible to gain 25% more performance compared to the M3 chip which already powers MacBook Pro and Air. Apple experts expect similar power gains between an M3 chip, an M4 and between this same chip and the Pro and Max versions.

Un MacBook Pro OLED?

The other big rumor, brought up to date by Ross Young in his report this week, is the arrival of a MacBook Pro with an OLED screen. This technology has been under study for years at Apple but the Cupertino company has not yet dared to take the plunge. Gurman in his article nevertheless pushes back the release of a MacBook Pro to 2026, at the earliest.
