Updated March 29, 2023:macOS Ventura 13.3 is availableUnfortunately, many users report still suffering from this bug after updating their machine. It remains tosee if macOS 13.4 will correct the situation.
Last January, Apple released version 13.2 of the Mac system, macOS Ventura. This brought many changes,as described here. Unfortunately, it didn't just improve the software. Indeed, in the bag of new features there were also some bugs, one of which was very annoying and affected file sharing. With macOS 13.3 however, currently inbeta test phase, everything should be back to normal. Explanations.
Dysfunctional SMB sharing
On Mac, you can share files over a network via different protocols, including SMB (for Message Block Server, seeWikipediafor more information on this). Although the latter is far from being the most modern and secure (depending on the version), it remains widely used, particularly when sharing files with Windows computers.
However, since macOS 13.2, this file sharing via SMB is dysfunctional for many users. In short, if you have updated your Mac to the most recent version of Ventura, there is a good chance that you too are affected.
We will have to wait for the release of macOS 13.3 to recover functional SMB connections. But the wait shouldn't be long anymore. The RC beta version of macOS Ventura 13.3 has been available since the beginning of this week. Next Tuesday, you should be able to install macOS 13.3 in final version, if Apple follows its usual OS deployment habits.
Remember all the same that it isalways prudent to wait before installing a system update, whether on Mac or even iPhone. Thus, by waiting for a while following the release of a new version of an OS, you can better gauge the situation and thus realize, where applicable, the reporting of major bugs by those who hurried to update their machine.
Obviously, if SMB file sharing is important to you and dysfunctional on your Mac running macOS 13.2, updating to 13.3 at the earliest will be your best option.
