Apple has added a new element to its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, titanium. Replacing stainless steel, this material should provide more strength to the phone, according to Apple's own words. But since the first models were marketed this Friday, various tests have demonstrated thatthe phones weren't as durable as expected.
Every year JerryRigEverything gets noticed on the web by carrying out a durability test on the new iPhones. Faced with Apple's promises in this area, its video on the iPhone 15 Pro and the Pro Max was eagerly awaited. At the start of the video, everything is going pretty well, the iPhone is resistant to attacks from knives, sandpaper and other scratches. Scratches are much less present on the iPhone 15 Pro than on older models.
But it was one of the final stages of the test that surprised everyone. As the iPhone 15 Pro Max was put under pressure, its back glass shattered. A reaction that surprised Jerry. As he explains in his video, he has been testing the strength of smartphones for 11 years now and no device has been broken so quickly in this test.
No hasty conclusions
This unexpected result makes the iPhone 15 Pro Max the most fragile of all Apple phones under pressure. However, it is impossible to draw conclusions from this isolated test. If the latter has the right to make us doubt, it should not lead us to have convictions about the solidity, or not, ofl’iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Other tests did not obtain the same results on this Apple phone and many suggested that Jerry Rig's device was in fact already damaged. A simple manufacturing defect in short. It will therefore be interesting to follow the next durability tests of the device, if this problem with the rear glass comes back as a common point between all devices, then it will be necessary to do what is necessary to protect this vulnerability of the iPhone. Protective shells and other cases are there for that.
