Apple TV+ has just revealed a first trailer for its highly anticipated seriesMasters of the Air. The legendary trio made up ofSteven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are producing this original creation for the streaming platform. The latter were already at work on the seriesBand of BrothersetThe Pacific.
A tribute to the US Air Force
The story of this feature film is based on the 2007 non-fiction book by Donald L. Miller titledMasters of the Air : America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the War Against Nazi Germany. The streaming service says this production will show how airmen risked their lives during wartime, and the moments of brotherhood that resulted.
In a press release released for the occasion, Gary Goetzman underlines that Masters of the Air“is a tribute to the brave men of the 8th Air Force who, through their courage and brotherhood, helped defeat Nazi Germany during World War II. Tom and Steven always wanted to cinematically visualize what our author Don Miller called this 'singular event in the history of war.'
As for the casting, we will notably find the duo of actors: Austin Butler (Elvis) et Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin) who respectively play Major Gale Cleven and Lieutenant Curtis Biddick, bomber pilots.
The first two episodes of the series will be broadcast on January 26, 2024, and new episodes will be broadcast every Friday until the end of the season on March 15.
