Apple's new production studio signs new series from Spielberg and Tom Hanks

On November 1st, the Apple TV+ film and video streaming service arrives, announced several weeks ago by the Californian giant. Several of the contents of the catalog will be Apple TV+ exclusives. But for the majority of them, initially in any case, these will be films or series produced by third-party studios, with which the Cupertino company has negotiated exclusive rights, like House of Cards. , series produced on behalf of Netflix.

On the other hand, for the recently announced new series Masters of the Air, it is Apple which will sign the production via its own studio with a still unknown name, like Stranger Things, an in-house production from Netflix.

Having your own production studio provides various advantages, such as having by nature exclusive rights to the content without the need to negotiate an exploitation contract, being able to resell licenses to exploit the content, or even being able to exploit the content in different forms and derivative products. Take for example the mobile game Stranger Things, an official derivative of the Netflix series.

With Masters of the Air, Apple and its production studio have struck a big blow. Because this is the new series produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, already working on the excellent drama series The Pacific and Band of Brothers. The latter were initially offered by the HBO channel, Apple probably won the latter for Masters of the Air.

Masters of the Air, the flagship series of Apple TV+

Masters of the Air is a new series set during World War II, based on the bookMasters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germanyby Donald L. Miller. It tells the story of American bomber pilots who went into battle more than 70 years ago against the army of Adolf Hitler and the 3rd Reich.

Remember that the previous series of the two Hollywood stars alone brought home 14 Emmy Awards for 43 nominations. Masters of the Air could therefore be a major series for Apple TV+, capable of attracting many new subscribers.
