That's it, like every year in May, the Cannes Film Festival is making headlines in France (and internationally). Its 2024 edition beginson May 14 and lasts until May 25. Two days before its launch, we take this opportunity to offer you an update of our file ofiPhone applications dedicated to the 7th and its most famous festivals.
For completeness and in the interest of greater accuracy, a small selection of “people” apps has slipped into one of the paragraphs. Because that’s also what the Cannes Film Festival is…
So, make way for the glitter, the red carpet and the dark rooms: onward for the twists and turns of the 7th art in this new update of ourthemed iPhone app folders.
The majority of apps mentioned here are free apps. When it comes to premium apps, we specifically indicate this.
Cinema apps
IMDb
Internet users are very familiar with this essential database that is IMDB (for Internet Movie Data Base)! Probably the most complete on iPhone, it lists no less than 1.5 million films and series and twice as many actor profiles. Suffice to say that it is the app to have for fans of the 7th art. Thanks to it, you will know almost everything about cinema. To download urgently!
AlloCiné
When we talk about cinema on iPhone, we might as well say that the AlloCiné application is a benchmark. In terms of functionality, it is complete to say the least. Currently showing or upcoming films, news, show times, or even trailers are just some of the possibilities of this superb application. It is also possible, subject to creating an account, to save your cinema rooms to quickly access screening times.
Telerama
Télérama is one of the leading TV and cinema culture magazines in France, if not the best known to the general public. All year round, it provides news, recommendations and other articles on releases on the small and big screens. And to follow the Cannes festival, Télérama is an excellent source, which can be consulted in a well-designed app, on iPhone and iPad.
Find your cinema
The major cinema chains also have their applications which will sometimes give you the screenings, sometimes the upcoming films. Some even allow you to reserve your seat directly from the iPhone and present it when you arrive at the cinema. Here is a little anthology:
For iCinephiles
It is of course possible to follow the festival on social networks, including Facebook and Twitter, but the apps that I am about to present to you are a little more specialized in cinema.
TodoMovies
In TodoMovies, the idea is to treat must-watch movies like a to-do list. Of course we find the list of films to see or those that we have already seen, but it is also possible to discover new works by browsing the different categories. There you can find old films, current ones and even future ones. For each film, the application provides a whole bunch of information ranging from the casting to some images taken from the film, including the trailer and even the biography of the actors. And for those who are wondering, everything is in French!
Organize your own films
The MovieBuddy app allows you to manage your collection of films, Blu-Ray, DVD or others. The database is up to date and automatically displays everything about the film saved in its collection (actors, summary, genre, etc.). It is also possible to add films to your wish list, or to check a film as “already seen”. One of the best apps in the genre.
But also
Movie quizzes
Are you tired of not knowing the movie everyone is talking about or not knowing who is starring in this or that movie? Or do you just want to have fun? Here is a selection of free movie quizzes:
Without the stars, Cannes would not be Cannes
Because without the stars and the glitter, without the red carpet and the photographers, the Cannes Film Festival would not really be the Cannes Festival. Here are some celebrity applications for those who are more interested in evening outfits and dresses than in competing films. Of course, one does not preclude the other:
Before finishing, if passing through Cannes you would like to do a little sightseeing, do not hesitate to take a look at ourNice and Côte d'Azur applications file.
And to conclude, let us remember that this type of file cannot be exhaustive. You will inevitably have other applications to recommend because you appreciate them and use them on a daily basis. Do not hesitate to do so via the comments by indicating their strengths and your preferences!
