Indeed, Apple has been offering version 11.6.5 for macOS Big Sur for several hours. This obviously does not bring new features. Despite this, it is advisable to install it, because it corrects numerous security vulnerabilities, more than twenty according to the Californian firm.
Likewise, users under macOS Catalina (macOS 10) can install a new security update namedSecurity Update 2022-003.

- Impact:An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges
- Description:A type confusion issue was addressed with improved state handling.
Kernel
- Available for:macOS Big Sur, macOS Catalina
- Impact:An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges
- Description:An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking.
There are also fixes for QuickTime, Siri and WebKit.
